Antiguamente, en tiempos de guerra, se reun\u00edan los distintos loncos para elegir un toqui, jefe militar que coordinaba las acciones de la escalada b\u00e9lica en conjunto de las comunidades en cuesti\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Es la autoridad principal, tradicionalmente corresponde a una persona mayor, que es el jefe tradicional de la comunidad familiar. Adem\u00e1s de su rol social, es frecuente que el lonco tambi\u00e9n se ocupe del aspecto religioso al dirigir el guillat\u00fan (\u00abrogativa\u00bb), una de las ceremonias m\u00e1s importantes del pueblo mapuche. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El lonco como kimche (\u00abconocedor, sabio\u00bb) del kim\u00fcn (\u00abconocimiento, sabidur\u00eda\u00bb) mapuche debe velar por la continuidad del Admapu y las costumbres de la tierra mapuche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"EL ULTIMO FUTA LONCO DE LA ARAUCANIA VIVA MI GENERAL PINOCHET\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZrQoadAXzs8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1989, Pinochet -a\u00fan al mando del pa\u00eds- se reuni\u00f3 con un grupo de mapuches pertenecientes a los Consejos Regionales que lo nombraron Futa Lonco (Gran Autoridad) de la principal etnia del pa\u00eds.
